A channel partner scorecard brings together evidence about a partner’s contribution to an industrial B2B relationship. It should help the supplier and partner choose an improvement action. A single ranking can hide whether a problem concerns account coverage, technical capability, delivery or customer service.
Choose measures that match the partner’s role
Clarify whether the partner generates opportunities, sells products, implements a solution or provides support. Select measures relevant to those responsibilities. Agree definitions, data sources and review periods before comparing partners.
Include the context needed to interpret a result. A new partner developing a territory may face different conditions from an established distributor handling repeat orders. Separate activity, commercial outcomes and service quality so one favorable number does not conceal a weakness elsewhere.
Use the scorecard for a joint review
Review the underlying opportunities, orders or service cases when a measure changes. Check whether the data are complete and whether responsibilities were understood. Ask what the partner needs to improve, including product information, technical support or a clearer approval process.
Agree a short action list with owners and review dates. Record changes to coverage or expectations explicitly. At the next review, assess whether the action improved the specific problem rather than only whether the overall score increased.
