Competitive analysis studies the alternatives a customer can choose and the reasons behind that choice. The alternatives may include an internal process or delaying the purchase, not only companies selling similar products.
Compare offers using criteria that matter to the intended customer: outcome, total cost, delivery effort and risk. Distinguish public evidence from estimates. Avoid treating a competitor's marketing claim as a verified performance result.
Use the findings to identify a credible difference or a gap in the company's offer. Update the analysis when the market or customer behavior changes. Do not imitate features without understanding the problem they address.
